Supported Employment
Our professional staff assist and support individuals with disabilities to integrate into the workplace by providing guidance and strategies to achieve their employment goals.
Employment Preparation services assist individuals in building pre-employment skills and/or seeking and securing employment. Services can include:
- Assessing areas of interests, aptitudes, and skills
- Classroom or online training to build job readiness skills, such as computer skills
- Liaising with community resources (i.e. literacy and Alberta Works programs)
- Job search skills and support (including job carving)
- Analysis of tasks for a desired job and review of skills to be developed, supporting job readiness
- Time-limited work experience, and or volunteer experience
- Resume development
- Interview preparation and support
- Support to apply for and obtain a desired job.
Employment Placement services assist individuals in learning a new role, building workplace relationships, and maintaining desired employment. Service can include:
- Support for job matching and placement
- Onsite job coaching while learning the tasks/role
- Support to make supportive natural connections
- Support to access and complete employer training requirements (i.e. employer policy, food safety, WHMIS, etc.)
- Supporting during work transitions, or if issues arise to help maintain a positive working relationship with the employer and/or other coworkers.
- Whenever possible, work with the employer and employee to fade out support as the person becomes familiar, confident, competent, and proficient within their role and responsibilities.
- Ensure Alberta Employment Standards and safe work practices are observed in all employment relationships.
