ASC FSCD Family Support

ASC FSCD Family Support Program supports children and youth 0-18 years old and their families who fall within the guidelines of the Alberta Government’s Family Support for Children with Disabilities Program. Clients requesting services may present with developmental, medical, or physical conditions, behavioural concerns, dual diagnosis, and/or multiple needs. Children and Families who access this service are generally funded through a family agreement with FSCD.

To meet the varying needs of families, the ASC FSCD Family Support Program offers a variety of services and delivery methods. 

OUTREACH SERVICES – Outreach Services are designed to provide caregiver support to children in place of a primary caregiver. All ASC Outreach Services are tailored to the unique needs of families and may be provided in conjunction with one another as assessed and outlined in family agreements with FSCD.

  • In and Out of Home Respite Services – provide a break for primary caregivers on a temporary basis. Services may be provided in or out of a family’s home and may be provided on an hourly or daily basis.  The frequency and duration of service depend on the needs of the family.
  • Community Aide Support – support for children to participate in community activities such as youth leadership clubs, sports, art and culture.
  • Extraordinary Childcare – work-related child or youth care when primary caregivers are at work.
  • Personal Care Aide Support – support in the home to address and support the unique personal care needs of a child or youth

BEHAVIOURAL/DEVELOPMENTAL AIDE SUPPORT – In-home, goal-focused service to address identified behavioural and/or developmental needs. With the support of a Behavioural/Developmental Aide caregivers and the child youth learn skills and implement and generalize strategies. Individual Service Plan goals are created in collaboration with the family, FSCD worker, ASC support worker, and ASC Program Coordinator.

FAMILY CONSULT – Intensive, short-term, goal-focused in-home service focused on the skill development of parents pertaining to a specific or complex concern. Individual Service Plan goals are created in collaboration with the family, FSCD worker, and ASC Program Coordinator.

TRIPLE P – POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAM – designed to prevent and address challenging emotional and behavioural concerns and help children reach their potential

FUNTIMES – hourly group respite, fun for children and a break for the caregiver

teens TO ADULTS (t2A) – hourly group respite for older youth and young adults
